I am using a trial version 2.08 downloaded today, I have setup a bank account and a credit card.

When I try to transfer money from the bank account to the credit card, using the account transaction form and selecting transfer as payment type, I am asked to enter a category! What category? surely a transfer is neither income nor expense so what category should I use?

Hi,

I had exactly the same issue when I started using Bank Tree last year - in the end I simply created a category called Transfers and a payment type of 'Bank To Bank'

So for an account to account transfer you select
'Expense' as the Type (that means is a payment from this account)
'Bank to Bank' as the Payment Type (unless you use cheque or chaps - in which case create a payment type for that)
'Transfer' as the category.

A bit laboriuos the first time but once set up you can use Autofill in the future to do it quickly.
